My father was QM3 Sandor Maury/frocked QM2 on USS ODAX from 50-53. He was from Houston, Texas and really loved the time he spent onboard. I am sorry to say he passed away 08 Apr 86. Would enjoy hearing from anyone who knew him.

The crew list is by no means complete. If anyone knows names and dates of service on USS ODAX, please advise. Thanks

This is a wonderful website and a great tribute to the USS Odax and all those who served on it! It is great to see the days of the Odax come to life in your pictures and stories. Dad, I hope you know how proud I am of you and how much I love hearing all of the stories from your days in the Navy! I love you!

Friend of Odax. Can I indulge myself by asking if you know anything about a derating of all the GUPPY boats from the Fleet Boat power output of 5400 shp, 20.25 knots on the surface to 4610shp ,18 knots ? In Commander Alden's book "The Fleet Submarine in the USN " -- at the beginning he spells out the Fleet Boat propulsion details and says 5400 shp but later in the book when detailing all the GUPPY types he says 4610 shp for the four engined boats and obviously a lower figure-- 3430 shp for the three engined G11A. Other data books say something similar , but you can't trust them all as they also talk what I know is rubbish . Any comment would be most helpful . Fraternal greetings Peter Hulme
